As we close out another season building garages in the Chicagoland area, this year marks one slightly more special than the others. Announced earlier this year, we are celebrating our 35th Anniversary. Since 1979, we have proudly build garages for homeowners from Antioch to Oak Forest, with every city in between.

But to commemorate these 35 years, we would like to share with you 35 things that have happened in the Chicagoland area since 1979.

1. 1979-The Great Blizzard of 1979 dumped 18.8 inches of snow on Chicago in two days
2. 1979-Disco Demolition Night occurred on July 12, 1979 at Comiskey Park
3. 1980-Taste of Chicago was Born on July 4, 1980
4. 1980-Blues Brothers directed by John Landis and starring John Belushi and Dan Aykroyd released on June 20,1980.
5. 1981-Illinois-born Ronald Reagan sworn in as 40^th U.S. President on January 20, 1981
6. 1981-Naperville Commemorates 150^th Anniversary with Riverwalk
7. 1983–Ameritech Mobile Communications (which became Cingular and then AT&T) launched the first US cellular network in Chicago, Illinois
8. 1984-Six Flags purchases Great America from Marriott Corporation
9. 1986-Chicago Bears win Super Bowl XX
10. 1986-MLB All Star Game held at Comiskey Park
11. 1989-I-355 Commissioned from I-55 to I-290
12. 1990-MLB All Star Game held at Wrigley Field
13. 1991-Chicago Bulls begin three-peat, winning 61 games and sweeping Detroit in NBA finals
14. 1992-Wayne's World, featuring Aurora, Illinois, was released on February 14, 1992
15. 1992-Chicago Bulls win NBA Championship
16. 1993-Chicago Bulls win NBA Championship
17. 1993-Aurora University Celebrates Centennial
18. 1994-Chicago Wolves Begin Play in the IHL
19. 1995-Navy Pier in Chicago, constructed in 1916 as a shipping terminal and then used for wartime navy and marine training and as a campus of the University of Illinois, is renovated and reopens with a giant Ferris Wheel, children's museum, stage pavilion, and retail shops.
20. 1996-Chicago Bulls win NBA Championship
21. 1996-Area Code 630 Splits from 708
22. 1997-The Field Museum of Natural History, outbidding museums throughout the United States, pays $8.4 million for Sue, the most complete Tyrannosaurus Rex fossil yet discovered.
23. 1997-Chicago Bulls win NBA Championship
24. 1998-Chicago Cubs pitcher Kerry Wood strikes out 20 against Houston Astros
25. 1998-Chicago Bulls win NBA Championship
26. 2005-Chicago White Sox win their third World Series, first in 88 years.
27. 2005-Abraham Lincoln Presidential Library and Museum opens
28. 2006-Cloud Gate, more commonly known as The Bean, opens in Chicago's Millennium Park
29. 2006-City of Naperville Celebrates 175^th Anniversary
30. 2008-Then Governor of Illinois, Rod Blagojevich, is arrested by federal officials for a number of alleged crimes including attempting to sell the United States Senate seat being vacated by President.
31. 2008-Carlos Zambrano throws no-hitter against Houston Astros
32. 2009-Illinois native Barack Obama sworn in as 44^th President of the United States
33. 2010-Chicago Blackhawks win first Stanley Cup since 1961
34. 2011-North Central College celebrates 150^th Anniversary
35. 2013-Chicago Blackhawks win Stanley Cup
